Amarylismatic
Amarylis (Maria) Matic
BIO

Matic, also known by her artistic name Amarylismatic, has been dedicated to painting and drawing for as long as she can remember. Her work captures simple yet meaningful moments from daily life, filled with joy, harmony, and positive emotion. Each painting speaks to the pleasure and beauty found in everyday experiences, often likened to musical compositions that evoke pleasant memories and inner strength.

An accomplished artist and architect, she comes from a family with a deep appreciation for the arts—literature, music, dance, and visual expression. Her chosen signature, “Amarylismatic,” is a fusion of her personal and artistic identity. Inspired by the flower Amaryllis, which echoes her own name, the title reflects a family tradition of naming women after blooming springtime flowers, symbolizing beauty and renewal.
Amarylismatic is based in Canada. Her educational and professional journey spans multiple continents. She has studied and worked in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, building a multicultural perspective that influences her artistic voice and vision.

Amarylismatic love for painting and drawing was nurtured in her childhood home, especially under the influence of her father—a sculptor, artist, and architect. Her upbringing was rich with creative tools, from pencils to blank sheets of paper placed around the house, encouraging spontaneous artistic exploration. Her father’s own journey with art began as a form of therapy during a hospital stay, when he was encouraged to draw what he loved as a way to heal and communicate his emotions.

"I paint simple, small moments from daily life, brimming with happiness and positive emotions—expressing pleasure, beauty, harmony, and joy like music filled with memories and strength."

The drawings her father created—boats, seas, trees, people, and busts in bronze—left a lasting impression on her, forming the visual landscape of her childhood. These early exposures to art became foundational to her own creative development. Her family's library, filled with books about art and museums from around the world, served as her early education in artistic styles, techniques, and the universal language of visual expression.

Though she focused on science in high school, Amarylismatic always drew inspiration from nature and the balance between human life and the natural world. This relationship continues to fuel her creativity. Nature provides the source of shapes, geometry, lighting, composition, and emotional tone that define her artwork, and her scientific background complements her technical precision and innovation.

Maria’s painting style is versatile—ranging from realism to abstraction, and even intentionally childlike at times. This diversity allows her to capture emotional depth through poetic sublimation. Her aim is to express inner feelings while preserving the moment’s essence. Her paintings show a strong sense of movement, fine detail, and a refreshing use of vibrant color, all rendered with expressive brushstrokes and layered glazes that bring the canvas to life. At the heart of her work is a celebration of the joy and whimsy found in everyday life. Her paintings strive to capture universal beauty, harmony, and the uplifting power of positivity. Each piece reflects her unwavering intent to remain true to herself and her artistic purpose—bringing small yet meaningful moments of happiness into focus.

"Nature guides my shapes, composition, colors, lighting, and emotional expression."

Viewers often describe her work with words such as “cheerful,” “joyful,” “calm,” “whimsical,” and “loving.” Some even report sensory experiences—“I hear birds” or “the sound of waves”—that reveal the emotional impact of her art. For Maria, each canvas is a fresh beginning, open to experimentation but always grounded in emotional truth. Whether simple or complex, realistic or abstract, her art seeks to share emotional energy that resonates across cultures and touches the human spirit.

Working primarily in acrylic and oil paints, Maria appreciates their flexibility and luminosity. She builds color through multiple transparent layers, creating glowing, harmonious compositions. Her subjects include tranquil landscapes, spirited wildlife, and soulful portraits that resonate with inner magic and emotional strength—compositions she refers to as visual “symphonies.”
